Bio-profile of Mr. Shambhu L. Hakki
(श्री शम्भू एल. हक्की)
Mr. Shambhu L. Hakki is a career diplomat belonging to 2008 batch of Indian Foreign Service (IFS). He joined Consulate General of India, Guangzhou in August 2021.
During his diplomatic career spanning over 12 years, he has served in Indian Missions in Beijing and Washington, DC. At the Embassy of India in Washington D.C., he served as Embassy’s spokesperson and Counsellor (Political) & Head of Chancery. He also served in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi as Under Secretary and Deputy Secretary in the Southern and Human Resources Divisions.
Before joining the Indian Foreign Service, Mr. Hakki worked for Government of Karnataka and also has experience of working in journalism field.
He obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) degree from Karnataka University, Dharwad. He also studied the Chinese language at China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing from 2010-2012 and is fluent in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Mandarin.
Mr. Hakki is a musician by passion, a practitioner of Hindustani classical music, a singer and composer. His first musical album ‘Jashn-e-Zindagi: Let Us Celebrate Life’ was released in 2020. He is also a writer and poet.
Mr. Hakki is married to Smt. Suma Hakki. They have one son and one daughter.
